Weddings and whatever

Just so we're clear... I'm a hopeless romantic at heart.  HOWEVER.  I'm 99.9% sure that I am not going to have a summer wedding.  Because literally everyone and their cousin and their best friend and their neighbor's college roommate's goddaughter gets engaged or married between May and August.  Now I'm genuinely glad to celebrate with everyone, but it's like the first weekend in June should be "National Wedding Weekend" or something.  Know what I mean?  Where we all know (or are one of) twelve couples that have a June 7th anniversary?  Yeah, no thanks, I'm not into that.

Anyway, if you know me, you know that music saturates my life, to the point where I have a song for just about everything.  Frequently, you'll find me changing a song's lyrics to fit a given situation.  I've just brought up the situation, so... ladies and gentlemen, the new lyrics to Tangled's "When Will My Life Begin," with YouTube video of the original for your convenience:

Summer begins the usual romance lineup
Count the engagements, weddings, anniversaries
This is the season when my Facebook blows up
Thirty “congratulations” before June 15

And so I’ll buy a gift
And then buy two and three
All my friends getting hitched is a reality
I'll go to weddings all
Summer and basically
Watch my friends’ new life phases begin.
[...Skip the next verse/chorus...]
And I'll keep wonderin' and wonderin'
And wonderin' and wonderin'
When will I find my man?

If one summer night
He does appear
He could be my date to weddings this year
And we could plan
A wedding of our own
Before I’m ancient
I might just
Let singleness go…
And ideally, if I were to sing this for anyone, I'd launch right into Beyonce's "Single Ladies" (or a re-lyricized version of Frozen's "Let It Go") and I think it'd be hilarious.

Happy Wedding Season, everyone. ;)
